Emmigration outside of the U.S.? |
Travel Info Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to permanently leave the USA to Europe, Canada Australia or Belize when you are over 40? Travel Tips To permanently move to and work in a foreign country is very difficult. If you are retired and have a regular, guaranted income, it is easy. But, to obtain permanent residency and a work visa is very difficult. I live in mexico and the regs here, in Europe, and in Australia are similar. you must hae a job skill that is needed there, apply for a work visa, find an employer, and often wait 2 to 3 years. I do not know about Belize, but probaly similar, and pay would be very , very low. you can read the info on the websites below for requirements for Australia and the united Kingdom. Then you can go to the Embassy websites of other countries you are interested in and read their info under "visas" or "consular services" on the embassy websites. The United Kingdom, France, Italy all have very strict work requirements. Your age is not a factor...the biggie is getting a work permit unless you have a steady, guaranteed income like a pension, or trust fund that you can document. Would also be wise to visit any area you are considering. Happy researching! Source(s): http://www.austemb.org/whwh/visas_and_mi... http://www.britainusa.com/visas/index_vi... American living in Mexico Other Travel Tips That depends on many things such as your level of education, fluency in the country's national language, et cetera. |
