Should I allow others to view my passport? |
Travel Info I am travelling to China with this program and will be there for 5 weeks. I should be receiving my passport in the mail tomorrow. the program is asking me to fill out a form, send then $80 and my passport. I have no problem sending the form and $80 so i can get my visa to get into China but ....should i send them my passport? i mean, i would assume that is personal and has some private information such as s.s.n. thoughts? Travel Tips This is the generally accepted custom & practice in matters of this kind so if you still want to go, you'd best cooperate or reconsider altogether, that's your choice. Otherwise, you'd have to remit the entire matter to the Chinese Embassy or consular office IN PERSON. If you trust the organization you're doing business with then just bite down hard and follow their rules. Others it your choice do not give your passport to anyone but the police or government. i was a teacher in china and the boss at the school asked for it to process my paperwork and when i asked for it back a week later he said "why". give them a copy only and do not ever hand it to them or they may not give it back and the u.s. embassy can make you a new one in a day but they will lecture you saying why did you give your passport, that is the property of the u.s. government and not for you to give to someone else To get a visa, they need your passport to take to a Chinese consulate. The visa is affixed to a page in your passport. At least that's how it worked when I went to India on business... no you sh old not let them see your passport its your Private basins. just do what your heart fells and hope for the best NO ss# on your passport. Visa will be stamped in the passport, so you have to send it to the embassy. NO choice. If you don't....no entrance in China. Every country in the world that need a visa for legal entrance in their country, need your passport to affix the visa. |
