Suitcase Weight Limits? Help?

Travel Info
Me, my husband and 2 children are going on hols tomorrow. We have a weight limit of 20 kilos per person. We have 3 suitcases. I've packed all the kids stuff in the one suitcase but it comes to just over 20 kilos. Does anyone know if the weight limit is per case or the fact that both the kids stuff is packed into one, that as long as it doesn't exceed the 40 kilos aloowed for both of them? Don't want to get to the airport to find out that we have to pay for exceeded weight limit. Both my hubby's and my suitcases are full and weigh under 20 kilos each. Everything in the kid's suitcase is essentials so don't really want to take anything out. Also the travel agents and ailine offices are closed for me to be able to contact them!

Travel Tips
If all the bags are checked in together- which obviously they will be, they just take the total weight into consideration ie- four people x 20kg = 80kg allowance, so no problem.

When I travel with my other-half we Just take one big case, which is usually over the 20kg (mostly shoes and cosmetics! why why why?)- but as there are two of us, it's not a problem.

I think it's usually per suitcase
I went in april to las vegas , in soutwest is 20 k per pasenger. i purchase liquor and wine and i had to pay 50 dlls extra, try to pack light, and carry the heavy stuff in your carry on
Yor allowance is correct but I think none of the baggage can exceed 32kilos. They will place a heavy luggage sticker on it.
I am sure you could look on the airports web site for all the information.
The weight is per suitcase.

If each of yours weigh under 20 kilos why aren't you packing some of their items in your cases? Most full suitcases actually aren't. Have you tried rolling your clothes instead of folding, sharing shampoo, not bring that blow dryer, limiting your jeans/sweatshirts (sharing with your husband) etc. Or, take another case that is very small that you can add miscellaneous items to that you may pick up on holiday.

I have done tons of travelling recently, and your "free" baggage allowance is 20kilos per person, although if your childern are classed as infancts then their allowance may be less. Anyway, I think you will find that if the average of your bags does not exceed 20kilos each, then you will be fine. If the bags are a lot over 20 kilos they may charge you excess baggage on the additional weight but again, last time we travelled we were 15 kilos over in total and they didn't bother.

The only time you would have a problem were if any one item exceeded 32 kilos - then they would insist that you re-pack and leave stuff behind if necessary.

I always weight my bags on the bathroom scale to make sure and as long as they are not more than about 25 kilos, I don't worry about it.
