Which is the cheapest way to send around 50 kg. of "stuff" from Holland to Costa Rica? |
Travel Info I'm moving back to Costa Rica so I need to send my stuff. My dilemma is that I'm not moving a whole house neither it is just a small box so I'm basically looking for an in-between solution Travel Tips Send it by regular mail... There is a special rate for used items, plainly marked, that can travel on a space available basis. Check with your local post office to see what their requirements are. When I moved back to the U.S. from Europe, I packed my stuff into boxes of about 40 pounds each, then took them to the postoffice and mailed them to a friend in the U.S. The boxes went by ground and by boat and it took from 4 to 6 weeks for them to arrive... BUT IT WAS CHEAP.! I had the usual custom's forms plainly attached to the outside along with the contents plainly written ON THE BOX... such as "USED PERSONAL CLOTHING" or "USED ITEMS" etc.. you get the idea. The main thing is clearly mark them as USED and for PERSONAL USE... otherwise you can get into some hefty taxes. OH... and put the address in at least 2 languages... in your case, Dutch and Spanish. I put my addresses in French, Spanish and English... and did the same with the contents descriptions. Others Can this "stuff" be smoked or made into cakes? |
