Will USPS leave a package at my door if a signature is not required? |
Travel Info I live in an apartment complex and was wondering if USPS will simply leave the package at my door or will they tell me to swing by the post office to pick it up? I dont want it left at the door as it could very easily be stolen by anyone walking down the hall. what will they do? Travel Tips Normally it is up to the letter carrier to determine if it is safe to leave the package. If you know that a parcel is coming you may leave a note (clearly visible) in your mailbox telling the carrier to leave a PS3849 when he receives the parcel. In this way you will not have to worry about the security of the package. Others You need to contact the USPS let them know not to leave it and hope they remember you. In most places they will not leave it. yes Yes, they will leave it sometimes. Depends on whats in it.. I'd rather have them give it to me... If you have to go to the post office you'll have to sign for it and show your ID... Leave a note on both your door and mail box stating to leave notice for all packages. You will be able to pick up the parcel the day after attempted delivery. Some carriers leave the parcel if they feel the area is safe others always leave a notice, depends on who you have delivering the mail that day. If you would like to call you post office and ask them to leave a message for your carrier it wouldn't hurt, however, 1/2 the time we don't get those messages. Letter carrier 23 years |
