Moving Organization?

Travel Info
my family is moving soon and i need to know a few ways to stay organized while packing.

Travel Tips
The above answerer had great suggestions. Here are some additional tips from somebody who has moved 7 times in the past 10 years.

1) Number each of your boxes, that way when you arrive at the destination, you will quickly be able to count and make sure all have arrived.

2) Keep a list of what is in each box e.g., Kitchen items, books, etc. That way you won't have to open all the boxes to find a specific item. Keep a photocopy or two handy.

3) Use colored labels to identify which room to unload in on arrival e.g., yellow labels go in the kitchen, blue in bathroom etc. When you arrive at your destination, before anything is unloaded tape a sheet to the wall somewhere clearly visible with the color on it. This will save your movers a lot of time.

4) Keep one box with items that you will need right away in case you are too tired to unpack. This box will have toothbrushes and other basic toiletries, an alarm clock, telephone, etc.

5) Have a yard sale before you move. Don't stress yourself by packing and moving a lot of things you will not use at your new destination.

Good luck!

I suggest strong good boxes you can buy at any moving truck rental place. Self stick labels, write the name of the room and the area (eg. Entertainment Center - My Rm or 1st Rm, Desk - Guest Rm) on the label, keep boxes together in the rooms that they are packed in and move them together so they are not separated. Label all boxes no matter how big or small, don't pack the box to tight, 1 it makes it heavy and 2 things tend to crush one another when moved. Make sure you have plenty packing paper or newspaper works the same if you double it. I would bubble wrap anything extremely breakable. Packing Tape will be your best friend Tape the boxes closed even if they look like they don't need it. Move furniture first then electronics then boxes. Boxes tend to get in the way when your moving a couch or t.v. If you get tired everyone helping should take a break no more than 10-15 min, any longer and you start to get tired and want to stop.
Drink plenty of water, not soda it gives you a boost then it's gone and you feel even more waisted.
