What are the positive and negative sides of liquids, aerosols, and gels restrictions on air travel? |
Travel Info Now we can't longer put our liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAG) into our carry-on (hand luggage). Of course, every restriction have its own positive and negative sides. For example, the positive side of this restriction is to protect air travel from terrorist attacks. The negative side is that we can't freely buy liquors, parfumes, or any other LAGs before the security screening checkpoint anymore. Beside of the examples I've given, what are the positive and negative sides of liquids, aerosols, and gels restrictions on air travel? Travel Tips A good question. Well, because of this restriction I don't have to pack so much for my carry-on. My hand luggage is no longer heavy :) and it makes me more careful when packing, too. Other positive sides are the rule makes us aware of the restriction that each country implemented. Each country has its own rule so every time I'm traveling abroad, I've to review the rule. This restriction make me feel better when traveling by plane. I don't need to be so nervous because with LAG restriction implemented air travel is going to be safer. For my wife, the LAG restriction has made her more careful when packing her cosmetics. She needs to separate cosmetics which she'll use during the flight and those which are not needed. For cosmetics needed, she put them in a resealable plastic bag and otherwise she put them into the checked luggage. Simple, in just a sentence I can say that the restriction has a big positive side. It makes us more careful and discipline when packing things; otherwise the security checkpoint officers will drink our Coca-cola or using our "cost-an-arm-and-a-leg" cosmetics that night :) . The restriction also makes my mind more peaceful, though. However, there are a lot of negatives as well. Now we have to be more selective in buying LAGs at the airport. We have to ensure that the shops we are purchasing at have the permission to deliver our bought things to the gate, especially if we are traveling to Australia and back to U.S. We can't buy LAGs in the air (air-shop or whatever it is called) if we are transitting to another country. For example, we are leaving from Singapore to Amsterdam via Tokyo. Since we have to take all of our belongings when transitting, we cannot buy any LAGs during our flight from Singapore to Tokyo. The negative sides for the shops and stores are they usually have less demands nowadays... bad for them. Well, if there are more supplies than the demands, expect to see higher prices at airport stores then! Hope these examples help! |
