Guitar on vacation?

I'm going on vacation tomorrow and would like to bring my guitar with me. I am going to be taking a plane, so would like to know if it makes sense to bring it with me. Could I bring on the plane with me? Or would I have to check it in like the rest of my luggage? If I have to check it in, would it get damaged easily? What could I do to prevent that? Please let me know! Thanks :)

You can bring a guitar on the plane as a carry on.
I know mine fit in the overhead compartment.

Just make sure to loosen the strings before you get on.
The upper pressure in the air as your flying will warp the neck if you don't.

if its an electric, they will have to check it. dont worry, it will be fine.. i do this all the time.

Yeah, Ive seen people take it as "hand luggage". It is permitted. Thre really isnt any other way unless you want it completely destroyed among all the giant bags:)
