You don't need to bring food or waqter but when you are there makesure you only drink bottled water and if you order soda ask for no ice.

Bring a book or headphones for the plane ride.(if you are going by train)

Where are you traveling from because that could make a difference. Mexico has basically everything you need so you can buy it all there if needed.

Also how long are you to be in Mexico and what are you going to be doing?

Well, you didn't happen to mention if you were going to the beach or not and that can make a difference on what you should take with you.

In general, make sure to have sunscreen and bug repellent, along with any other medications that you take or take on occasion.

hat/cap
swimsuit
flip flops
toilet paper (seems like a lot of public restrooms are always out)
