What is the limit on how much beer an American citizen can bring back from a foreign country? |
Travel Info I spent the summer in Germany and wanted to bring back around 10 German beers as a gift for my sisters wedding. As an (of age) American citizen returning to the US how many bottles would I be allowed to bring, would I have to declare them in some way, and if I cannot put them in my checked luggage is there some other way to get them home? Thanks for the help Travel Tips You can clear it ahead of time as long as you are willing to pay the duty. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/vacati... (scroll down for alcohol) . Others normally it is 24 12 oz cans. check with your airline, also ask about weight restrictions, it doesn't take many 6- packs to exceed the weight limits & the penalty charge may make that beer real expensive. This website gives a list of duty free items and how much you can bring back from Germany with beer included. Not sure the conversion from liters to ounces, but I'm sure you can do the math. http://www.traveldocs.com/de/customs.htm... |
