Can it take 11 days to renew a passport? Please help me!!!? |
Travel Info My question may not make sense to be asked but this is the problem. On July 6 I have to go to 4 countries (UAE, Switzerland, Germany, and NZ), but I just found out my passport expires July 10. The Passport office is open on Monday which gives me only 11 days to renew it. Will they let me do it? Travel Tips You can put a rush on this, but it is VERY expensive. I have had to do it in the past when I needed to take my daughter to England. It cost us nearly $300.00. Others I think you'll have to pay extra. Unless you return by July 10, you're screwed. It takes a minimum of 2 weeks to get a passport renewel. Yes, but you must pay extra... do it NOW!!! Enjoy your trip! I have heard a rumor that some countries may not accept you from the get-go without a passport which is 6 months from expiration. I'm not sure how true this is, but it may work. Before the 9/11 ordeal, I ran into this issue and ended up renewing my passport at an embassy overseas. Not a good idea because they took a while. Frankly, if you can show proof of residency here in the US, then the State Dept should let you back in the States. |
