Do i need a passport if i am traveling from Ohio to California? |
Travel Info On my trip there is one adult (44) and 5 children (3, 7, 9, 13, and 15). If we don't need a passport than what do I need? Travel Tips Well, I've been traveling for years, so I do have a bit of experience in that area. No, you do not need a passport if you are a U.S.citizen traveling inside the United States. However, you do need a state or federal issued (school I.D. sometimes works, but usually not) I.D. and I suggest bringing a car seat for your 3 year old. I'm fairly certain that ur 13 and 15 year olds will need I.D.s as well. However, your 7 and 9 year olds most likely wont need I.D. I suggest bringing I.D.s for them just in case (since it is always possible for your kids to get lost in the airport and I.D.s could be helpful in situations like that). I also suggest you reserve seats in the back of the plane, so your kids disturb the least amount of people (after all, kids will be kids). If this is your kids' first time flying, i suggest bringing gum and puke bags for them. The gum is for you all to chew while take off and landings, as it will keep ur ears from popping. Many kids (especially the younger ones), cannot handle the sense of being in the air and get motion sickness, therefore puke bags may be needed. Most airlines provide them in the seat pocket in front of your seats, but some airlines are cutting costs and will only give the bags upon request. Also, you'll need a couple blankets for the young ones, since many kids are allergic to the fibers in the airline blankets (they aren't that warm anyway). Plane flights can be really stressful, especially since you are taking five kids with you, so be sure to bring a comfy pillow, plenty of your favorite headache medicine, quiet activities for your kids (I find that gameboys or portable dvd players work best, for cheap gameboys, go to EBgames or Gamestop where you can buy used gameboys for extremely cheap prices (i've gotten one for only about $35), kids food and juices (airline food and drinks just don't cut it), a cd player/mp3 player/ipod filled with calming music such as Vivaldi or beach music (for you so that you can withstand the inevitably horrid planeflight), and maybe a few dollars to buy a glass of airplane wine (which costs $5 and isn't that good, but you may find it's exactly what you need). While you're in California, let me recommend some places for you to visit. For the exception of Disneyland and San Diego Zoo, there really isn't much need to stay in the L.A. area as it's too crowded and smogy. However, there are some beautiful beaches in the Monterey Bay area, Santa Cruz area, Santa Barbara area, and Palm Beach area. You must also travel to just south of San Fransisco area as there are the largest trees in the world there. The trees are known as Redwoods and Sequioyas (not sure how that is spelled) and some can be over a thousand years old and as wide as a minivan (I literally parked my Dodge Minivan completely inside a Redwood and drove completely through another Redwood). Also, the Sierra Nevadas in the East is a must-see. It's simply the most gorgeous area in all of United States except for perhaps Alaska. You absolutely must see Lake Tahoe, as it and the surrounding area is the most awe-provoking area in all of California. To skip it would truly be a shame. Yosemite National Park is also extremely beautiful. There's also plenty of top-notch theme parks all over California (I think we have something like 2 dozen theme parks located throughout California), so don't forget to visit a few of them. I recommend Paramount's Great America in San Jose, California (an hour or so south of San Fransisco). Also Marine World is quite an attractive place for kids. Whatever you do, do not go to the famous Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, California. It's a scam and is extremely boring especially for kids. San Fransisco itself is a nice city with quite a few tourist hotspots, and is much better than L.A. The last must-see I recommend to you is the Beach Boardwalk in Santa Cruz, California (one of the oldest theme parks in the world). It also has some of the most amazing restaruants in California (including fantastic seafood places). Nearby is the world-famous, top-notch, Shadowbrookes restaraunt. It's definately one of the top five restaraunts in California, but it's extremely expensive. I would venture to say that a meal for 5 people would cost at least 200 dollars. If you can afford it, the meal is certainly worth the pricetag. It even has a gorgeous view to go along with the meal. Hope you have a great trip! Others no, only if you travel outside the US. I am a Travel Agent Not yet. Give Bu$hitler some more time, though... Not yet, but give the right wingers enough time and you will. You only need a passport if you leave the country. Are you not a resident of the United States? From some other country maybe? You can travel anywhere in the United States without a passport or any thing. You only need a passport if you go outside the United States. I do not believe you need a passport unless traveling out of th country. However, it would be good to have at least two forms of identification with you(e.g driver's license and work ID) for security reasons. |
