Anyone know about space bags? |
Travel Info Im interested in how well they work, anyone know? Travel Tips The kind that roll up are wonderful. I used them when I traveled overseas and they were worth every penny. The ones that need a vacuum work, but if you are someplace that does not have a vacuum then you start to leave you are in trouble. Others they are a bags with a seal zip side and a place for the vaccume.. after filling the bags you zip it shut and take your vaccume cleaner hose and suck the air out.. its air tite and nothing will leak in on it and no air will get in until you open the zip seal. they are amazing and you can fit quite a bit in them. and if its a big pillow or comforter and place it in the bag and suck the air out.. and store it for a long amout of time.. it will fluff back up and you dont have to worry about things getting flat or mildued. I use them all the time. I don't use the ones that require a vacuum cleaner, but rather the ones that roll up. Get the kind that have a plastic zipper at the top. They save me lots of space (heh) when packing, and keep my stuff well organized. I store my blankets and sweaters in them as well; however, be sure they are cleaned first before you store them. I've got 2 big space bags that I bought at Bed Bath Beyond. They generally worked well, but one of them almost immediatly had trouble keeping out air after the first use. After a couple of years, the plastic around the seal got brittle and shredded when I tried to zip the bag. I would not spend $20 for 2 of them again. I might spend half that amount; they're not worth more to me. When they did work, they worked well, but be sure you've arranged clothes in a shape that will fit in your suitcase, because once the seal is made, it become one big solid form. I get them in Japan in all different sizes and use them for packing my suitcase. This way your clothes take up less room and if TSA's goes through my bag they are not touching my stuff. I used them for years. I have lately switched over to 2 1/2 gallon ziploc freezer bags. After I fill them I put them on a chair or bed and sit on them and then zip them closed. They work just as well and don' t cost as much. They are great, i have the super large one and i put all my clothes in it when i come home from college, you just seal it then suck the air out with a vacuum, then when you need your stuff again you open it up and theres your stuff, i also use them to store pillows and blankets and things. they save so much space! |
