Do I need a Visa to travel outside the U.S with american passport? |
Travel Info Do I need a Visa to travel outside the U.S with american passport? Travel Tips !st answerer does not have a clue...just wanted 2 points for nothing. irritating, huh? Ok...here is the scoop. Your passport identifies you as an American citien and gives you permission to leave and re-enter the United States. Some countries require you to have a VISA ( a permission) to enter their country. Other countries allow you to visit for up to 90 days without a visa. Most countries require you to get a visa to stay for long visiss or to reside in their country. You get a visa by going to the embassy or consulate of the country you wish to visit , filling out an application, and paying a fee. Most foreign countries have embassy websites you can check that tell you the locations of their embassies and consulates in the U.S. The EASIEST way to learn if the country you want to visit requires you to have a visa is to check the U.S. State Dep't webpage that has an alphabetical list of foreign countries and gives the info for requirements for U.S. citizens to enter. This website is listed below. Just scroll down the alphabetical list to read to info on the country you are interested in. Hope this helps you. Source(s): http://travel.state.gov/travel/tips/broc... Other Travel Tips of course Most places don't require them but some do. Just depends where you're going. EU countries don't require a VISA for folks with US Passports, nor does Australia, Mexico or Canada. Best to check the Department of State's website to confirm if you're going somewhere outside of those countries. You need one for Russia, China and many other places. That depends on what Country you are visiting. Australia, New Zealand, Africa you will need Visa's to visit along with your passport I am a Travel Agent Depends on where you want to go and what you want to do. If you are going to one of the country that is on the visa waiver program for vacation then all you need is a pp and a round trip ticket. If you are going to work then you will need a visa. If you are going to a non visa waiver country then you will still need a visa. Some countries, like Mexico you can get the visa when you get there, other you will need to get in advance. The best thing to do is go on line to the country information you are looking for and they can give you the requirements. Every country will have a web site like the one the one the US State Department has. |
