Can I pick up a delayed passort from a regional agency? |
Travel Info I applied for a passport months ago. If it does not arrive in time is it possible to pick it up at the proccessing center? Can I make an appointment and pick it up that day? I am unable to get anyone to talk to me by phone. Thanks. Travel Tips No, you cannot pick it up at the processing center, if you are traveling very soon and they will not get it to you in time then you can expedite it (if you have time) or you can travel at your own expense to one of several cities (including denver, new orleans, houston, there are more) to attend an meeting set up by someone you talk to one the phone and by having that meeting, the passport place that you are at will make you one within 24 hours I went through this same thing, and the passport agency is very difficult to deal with because they are so backed up. My suggestion is that if you are traveling withing the next month and you need it then you should call the passport place (it may take some persistance and you may have to sit there and just call the number numerous times all in a row until you get through) and have it expedited. If you are unsure when it is going to come but will need it soon then just expedite it because it is not worth the hassle of having your trip delayed. If you dont expedite it then you will probably be told to call back later to check on the status and they will tell you that they are trying to push it through, but it really doesnt speed it up too much. I didnt not get mine in time and I had to call them everyday for two weeks just to get it one day late. It is worth the extra 60-100 (whatever the cost is) to get it expedited because if it messes up your trip then it will just cost more in the end to reschedule your flight or you will waste money if you dont go at all. so basically expedite it as soon as you can because the passport place is a hassle to deal with hope this helps -camo4213 Source(s): been there, got screwed Other Travel Tips 1st answerer gave a great answer. I was just wondering...are you travelling to Canada, Mexico, or the Caribbean? If so, there is a special "flexibility" program now thru Sept. 30 that can help you. Just go to the website below and read and follow the directions for the flexibility program. Hope it all works out well for you. travel.state.gov |
