Does anyone know about the way to get a foreign pet into the United States? |
Travel Info I've got a cat back in Haiti. It's name is L茅a. She misses me and my sister so much, she wants to be with us. She had gone missing when I moved to the US. She's come bac k since a month (I"ve moved about a year ago). It's so terrible that she's come back, and she's stayed in my room during days, waiting for me to return. Does anyone know if all the airport agents would ever let me import my beloved pet to the US? I'm counting on you, geniuses of Yahoo Answers! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!! Travel Tips The US does not quarantine animals. You have to have all the necessary paperwork, which is up to date shot records and an international health certificate from a vet. Source(s): http://www.cbp.gov/linkhandler/cgov/tool... Other Travel Tips You can import the cat but the cat will have to be quarentined possibly for a loooong time. You would be better off finding someone to adopt the kitty. I don't want to sound harsh but it's less that the cat misses you and more it's familiarity. Cats will go fairly easy to new owners. The US DOES quarentine animals even within the US. I have a friend that moved to Hawaii and left kitty with friends because the cat would have to be quarentined for 3 months. The customs document from the person who says they don't quarantine says it as well. They will examine your pet and if they deem necessary will further examine at your expense. I agree with the first answerer, but if you really want to check it out, see the website below for info an bringing a pet into the U.S. you will have to contact the airlinr=e you wish to use to ask how the animal should be caged and what their fees are. http://www.foreignborn.com/visas_imm/ent... |
