Things to look for when buying luggage? |
Travel Info I'll be traveling to Europe for 10 days later in the year and I don't have luggage. Are there certain things that I should or should not look for? I'd love to know what brand you use or if you have good/bad personal experiences with your luggage. Thanks in advance! :) Travel Tips I need a bag that is lightweight but is strong. The density of luggage material is called the denier. Choose one above 1200. Next I look for self repairing zippers and a rubberized cording around the corners to prevent wear and tear. Mine is expandable which is great for returning with lots of souvenirs. Wheels are an absolute necessity. My husband says that I can pack as much as I want as long as I can "carry" it myself. The other feature that I enjoy is seat belt like clips that allow me to "stack" smaller bags on top of the largest one so that once clipped together they all roll as one. Mine is the Ricardo brand and I love it. After 3 years of much airline and cruise travel look brand new. I hear they have a new model that also includes an internal scale so you don't go over the airlines restricted weight. This is especially helpful on the return when you don't have your bathroom scale handy. Also, if you can avoid it don't choose black. It gets really confusing at the baggage claim or cruise port because they all look alike. Good Luck and Bon Voyage. Others I'm a flight attendant and know to always get luggage that's not too heavy while it's empty. If you're going to be traveling around a lot, get the lightest weight you can. If it's fabric, get it 800-2000 denier ballistic nylon. Make sure it has good wheels. Cheap plastic will get damaged/fall off. Avoid cheap metal zippers. Don't get luggage which is too heavy itself without things in it.Don't get an expensive one in case the airport people are bit rough when they handling it.I always get an average type.Get one with trolleys.Try to avoid the zip type as they are easy to 'open' by people wanting to steal your things in the cargo during the flight. All from my experience.Hope you 'll find it useful. |
