Cost for emirates extra luggage? |
Travel Info Cost for emirates extra luggage? Travel Tips Well, if you're flying in Economy/Coach class, you're allowed to check in two bags -- if you're traveling to or from the USA, each bag can weigh up to 50lbs/23kg (so that's a total of 100lbs/46kg of weight you can check.) If you're flying to or from any other country, your weight allowance goes up a bit: you can still only check two bags, but each can weigh up to 70lbs/32kg, giving you a total allowance of 140lbs/64kg. But you want to know what happens if you go over this amount, and here it is: let's assume you're flying out of the USA -- if either of your bags goes over the 50lb limit, you'll have to pay an extra $25. If the bag goes over 70lb, you'll be asked to offload some baggage, as your bag just won't be allowed to weigh over 70lbs. If you think you're going to have a lot of stuff to check, you should definitely bring two bags rather than one -- it seems bizarre, but you can have two bags weighing 50lbs each (for a total of 100lbs) and not have to pay any extra, but if you only have ONE bag and it goes over 50lbs, you'll be stuck with that $25 fee. What happens if you check more than two bags? Depending on where you're flying to, you'll have to pay somewhere between $130 and $135 to check the extra bag ($130 if you're flying to Europe or India; $135 if you're flying to the Middle East or South Africa.) Again, this third bag can only weigh up to 50lb (if you go over that, you're going to be paying the extra $25 ON TOP of the extra $130 to bring a third bag.) Hope this helps -- have a great trip! Other Travel Tips Check with the airlines you intend to use for a definitive answer, but if you are flying and want to take extra luggage, be prepared to pay a lot for that convenience. I just flew from the USA to Korea and was a total of 15 pounts, or about 7 Kilos overweight and the airlines was going to charge me US$750 for the extra stuff. Fortunately for me, I could buy one extra piece of luggage for the extra weight and that was fine for the airlines. Good luck. |
