Do you need a passport to travel within the U.S if you live in the U.S? |
Travel Info i always wanted to know that; cuz when i went to canada i used my passport but what if i want to travel here in the U.S? Travel Tips A passport identifies you as a citizen of a specific country. If you are a US citizen and you are traveling in the US, you don't need anything else but your driver's license/photo id to get you from place to place. The reason why you needed your passport to go to Canada is because you went to a place that you're not a citizen of. As for the comment about Alaska and Hawaii.....yes, we are separated by a land mass or an ocean from the rest of you in the continental US but we are still US states! Hope that helps.....happy travels! Others NO... that is why it is called the UNITED STATES. Originally, it was the SEVERAL STATES of America and at that time, you literally traveled from one country to another when you crossed a state line... but Passports are not necessary when the ENTIRE COUNTRY is just ONE Country. Do you mean like state-to-state? For example New York to Michigan? If you mean that, then no, you don't. no but you need one to go to mexico or canada now. Nope. Not even to go to Alaska or Hawaii. no If you are visiting the US from another country you will need your passport stamped with your entry visa. If you are a US citizen, you do not need a passport for travel within the US, however you should have some sort of identification if you are over 18. |
