What does it mean to have your bags checked at an airport?

Travel Info
Skybus airlines makes it cost extra(checking the bags, that is)

Travel Tips
RyanAir does this as well...
the ticket for YOU is one cost...
if your bag is too big to be placed in the cabin with you then you must "check" it and the airline will place it in the cargohold...in that case they will charge you an additional fee...
not all airlines charge you to "check" bags... Source(s): airline industry
Other Travel Tips
Don't quite understand what you mean, if they want to look in your luggage then they will look in your luggage ?????
it means they store it in the plane for you so you dont have to lug it around.

normally it only costs if it is over a certain weight
Curb side check in is done at the curb(by a skycap ) for a tip.or you can lug it to the ticket window and check it yourself. However if it is an overseas flight you must check it at the ticket window.
I travel a lot.
