Is there any logic to how officials choose a page to stamp your passport?

Travel Info
I've always wondered this. It seems they just take it, open it to any place and stamp it. Can there only be 4 stamps per page, or can they stamp anywhere there is space?

Travel Tips
I agree, they just open and stamp. Some of my pages are filled because they stamped diagonally across several spaces (Cancun does that).

My pages are getting filled, I was beginning to wonder if at some point they pay attention and count the stamps per page.

It depends on the immigration agent - some are very thorough, review the book, stamp where it makes sense.

"The world will never know" - sometimes in this life of ours some questions will remain unaswerable therefor "the world will never know"
i dont think it matters, otherwise they would stamp it chronologically. my first stamp was on the second page....go figure. it must not matter.
