We are moving in one month..where and when do I start packing?

Travel Info
My husband and I are moving to another state in a month. We don't have any children, just three pets. We have a pretty decent sized two bedroom apartment, but we honestly have a good bit of stuff. I know its a little too soon to be doing a lot of packing, but I know as time gets closer I'm going to be so busy running around. I know there had gotta be something I can be working on. I feel like I need to get busy. BUT I don't know where to start.

Any suggestions would be so appreciated! THANKS!

Travel Tips
I've moved several times, and i find it's best to start packing as soon as you know you are moving! Pack everything you don't use. I usually start in closets and work my way out. You would be surprised how fast you can move when you're in a rush, but who needs that stress? Try to get AT LEAST one box packed a day for the next week, then bump it up. Throw away (Or Donate!) anything that you haven't used in a year! I typically don't pack anything that can be replaced cheaply on the other side.
When you're packing your truck, be sure to keep all the things you'll need right away in easy access..
Just look around your house and ask yourself...
"Do I need this?" pack up all the decorations. half your clothes. most of your kitchen items.
be sure to keep a detailed list of items on every box, so when you get to the other side you can see where everything is at a glance. Moving can be so much fun!!! Put on some music and have a glass of wine. You're about to have an adventure! :)

Your instincts are correct: start now. Figure out what you're going to need in the next month (a few dishes, couple of sheets, clothes, etc.), and pack everything else.

Gather your packing materials together--you can get good packing stuff from UHaul; or if you live in a craigslist area, there's always people giving away moving boxes.

Do the books first. There's always so many more than you think you have. And be sure to pack them so the boxes can be lifted. Mark every box as to its contents and what room it should go into.

Also, now is a good time to get rid of stuff you don't need or use. Keep a box aside for donations, and one for trash. Keep them by the door, so every time you go out you can drop off the donations.

If you start now, you should be very low stress when moving day comes. Bon voyage!
you should start packing now and start packing the less important things taht you know you wont need. then as time goes on start packing more of your clothes, dishes, things like that.
