What type of luggage would you buy? 100% polyester, or, 1200 and higher denier? |
Travel Info I'm in the market for some new luggage and I'd like to know if I should opt for 100% polyester luggage which might not specifically state the denier (I'm assuming it's like a measure of thread count in sheets -- the higher you go, the better the quality?); or, should I go for luggage that has at least a 1200 denier? Travel Tips i used to be a luggage buyer for JCPenney. Here is the thing I always ask when someone is buying new luggage. If your job involves you traveling alot, or travel frequently....get a higher denier, even the best is ballistic nylon. It costs more, but definitley will last longer. If you are like me, and only travel once or twice a year...a basic denier is safe. I would also try and stick to name brands, Samsonite, American Tourister, the ones they sell at wal-mart are cheaper, but will fall apart faster. JCPenney has great specials even sets. My next luggage will be a ballistic nylon..because it will last forever. Source(s): I used to be the JCPenney buyer for luggage Other Travel Tips Samsonite is really good and not too pricey. Hope I'm spelling it right. I don't know a lot about the denier, but make sure you get the lightest luggage made of the best quality, because the airlines are now very strict on the weight of luggage, so it's best to have a bag that is lighter when it is empty. As a seasoned traveler, I suggest going for a medium priced set of luggage in a dark color. I can't begin to count how many nice, expensive suitcases I've had get ruined (broken zippers, stained exterior, ripped pockets, torn fabric) after a ride in the cargo area of a plane. Also, I suggest plastic, if you can. It protects your items a little more, is easy to clean, and is usually fairly affordable. |
