For the kind you can only open at one end, you can still flatten the top half and reduce the can's volume, then step on it and make it still smaller. For ones like salmon and tuna cans that only open at one end, hold the can (with your hands) between your knees and press in opposite sides. Then you can step on it and almost flatten it. It immediately broke and when we returned it, we were told that WalMart wouldnt carry them any more b/c they are junk. Guess the old fashioned way of crushing them yourself works best!
