Travel Tips I always recommend Panama la Vieja,old panama.Which was a Spanish fortress built by the Spaniards 500 years ago and plundered and almost all destroyed by Scottish pirate Captian Morgan.Parts are still standing and they are in the process of renovating it also. The canal is ok.but there are more interesting things like touring the rainforest or even going to visit Kuna Yala,the islands where the Kuna Indians live.Their culture remains the same since the Spaniards came 500 years ago.Males and females share equal rights. Go all the way down the street, veer to your right and after two stop signs, park your car and start to walk. First and foremost, you have to visit the Panama Canal. Tours usually only run on Saturdays, so check with a tour operator before you arrive in Panama City. I also visited El Valle de Anton which is an area that is an old volcanic crater. They had a cool outdoor market, a thermal springs/mud area, and a canopy swing through the beautiful jungle. If you have time, head over to the Eastern side of Panama to visit Colon (and the Colon-free shopping area) as well as the islands over there: Boca del Toro and San Blas Islands. www.gamboatours.com |
