How can I get answers about visa questions re visa from Panama to USA? |
Travel Info us embassy is asking my friend to provide bank acct. numbers and documents that reflect my financial situation here in the US. He is coming for a visit on a tourist visa. Are these questions legal and necessary? Travel Tips Yes, they are legal questions. My friend had to do the same when he went to Europe from Ecuador. The reason for this is because the US embassy wants to know that you will be able to support your friend financially for the duration of his stay. For eg. if he needs to go to the hospital or if he loses his luggage. Others They are legal. Basically they only want to let people into the U.S. who are prosperous enough to want to return to their own country or who have U.S. friends who are prosperous enough to support them. It is a big hassle. visit embassy ofpanama's website and read all rules and regulation , Basically, The US Consul Officer is doing his job. If you friend cannot proof that he's capable of paying his vacation , they need evidence someone will. Also they may suspect he wants to stay in the States, so getting information on you, means that you are reponsible if he becomes an illegal alien. It's becoming increasing difficult to obtain a Visa to enter the States. They can ask these questions. And yes it is a big pain in the but when you are dealing with these people in the embassy. I have dealt with them many times in Panama, and they are sure not the friendly type of people. The consular officer wants to check if you will be able to support your friend. Also they want to know if he's visiting illegal aliens as well, of if he's visiting US citizens or legal residents. Remember that harboring illegal aliens is a federal offense. |
