What is the cheapest way to get from Panama City, Panama, to the San Blas Islands? |
Travel Info Is there a direct bus or do you have to hire a private cab. Travel Tips Hi, you have to fly to the nearest/largest island (Porvenir) or take a chartered boat leaving Panama every so often. Since you are visiting Islands, it's best to take a yatch so you get to experience the islands properly. Check with Voyager Hostel for names of captians and boats leaving Panama for the Islands. P.S Most of these boats dock in Cartagena Colombia, so if you just want to visit the islands, then take a plane. A 5 day yacht trip will cost you around $250 US. It's well worth it. The key here is 'Island'. You can't take a bus or a cab. However, there are regular buses leaving from Panama to Portobelo everyday which is where you'll find the boats.
