Travel Tips
There are many books written on the subject. There are lots of links on the www. But sometimes you almost have to know what you are looking for. There are descendants of black slaves here that escaped from the US; there are descendants of black people from the Caribbean鈥檚 that were brought here to build the canal. There are Chinese that have been brought for the same reason. And let鈥檚 not forget some of the earliest influences that of the Spaniards. The French were here to build the canal. Americans have been here for some time. Panama was once Gran Colombia and there was much cultural mixing here. And of course there are several indigenous groups; some which have been lost and some which are still hanging on. The Catholics have a large influence with the gospel they presented in the form of drama and the introduction of mask and costume that are still made and very much a part of the cultural. Panama is an isthmus it has always been a land bridge for the rest of the world, therefore it was as great or greater a melting pot then the US. Panama鈥檚 culture is one of many other cultures melted together. See http://www.panamaexpertos.com/ for more information on Panama. As for the art, as you would think a lot of the art here in the form of gold artifacts came from South America. But Panama does have it's own fair share of gold within the country.
