Travel Info Would anyone know the costs of high blood pressure and cholesterol medications in Panama? Travel Tips Here is a website with some health and medical articles from panama, http://www.panama-travel-bureau.com/pana... and here is one with articles on expat living in panama, http://www.panama-guide.com/index.php?to... Hope these help you as much as me. Others Meds made in the U.S. are about the same cost. However, if you consult a doctor, he can prescribe similar drugs made in other countries for a much lower cost. Most meds are available over the counter and you can buy one pill or a box full. There are definite adjustments for expats. Men seem to like it more than the women do. Being bi-lingual is a huge advantage. The money is same as U.S., although it is called Balboas. A lot of that medicine is sold OTC and partially subsidized, so the costs would be similar or less than in the US. You might also find it easy to become a resident, in which case you can apply to local health leagues and get even more discounts. Expats enjoy it. Life in Panama is great, you have a bit of everything and the weather and beaches and jungles are great. The population in Panama is varied, in the city you find many different cultures, which is a bit different from other capitals in Latin America. There are also a lot of opportunities for you to consider working in Panama. . It is great!! I have no intention of ever moving back to the states. I live in Boquete, the land of eternal spring!! 68 to 82 everyday of the year. The people are very friendly, not like a lot of other countries. There is no violent crime here in this province. there is violent crime in Panama City, this is the farming part of Panama. If you stop to look at someones yard and flowers they will invite you in to meet the family, offer you something to drink and tell you to take cuttings from any flowers that you want to. Life is good in Panama!! It is a latin american lifestyle, interesting, different, warm all year round and much cheaper than many places in the world. Most of the medcicines you mentioned will probably run 35% of USA costs. You may find the same drug made by the same company in another country for a much lower price. You may need to use an equivalent drug - no shortage of this type of medication in Panama.
