Planning a trip to Panama?

Travel Info
My boyfriend and I are hoping to make it to Panama for a week in Mid May. What are some suggestions for things to do and what is important for me to know about travelling to Panama? I am very excited, my father grew up there.
Oh, my boyfriends a recovering alcoholic, so lots of drinking activities aren't for us. But we love nature and interacting with new cultures!

Travel Tips
I spent 2 years there . Here's what I learned . Although Panama has great shopping in the 'Free Zone', and casinos and bars etc.. ., I would suggest the opposite . Go to the jungle and EXPERIENCE something you'll never know otherwise . The most varieties of birds on the earth !! Froot Loop (toucans) birds and countless colorful and animated birds are a sight to see and hear . The jungle itself is an amazing place to be . Coatimundis, caymen, sloths, wild boars, etc are all right in front of your eyes . Exotic plants everywhere . Flower plants that actually grow on tree branches are cool too !!
The Caribbean is great for snorkeling . Again, many exotic fish that only normally can be seen in a 'pet shop' are abundant and bigger than in the 'pet shop' . Coral reefs provide a great haven for many varieties . Dolphins, porpoises, barracudas, and some things I couldn't even identify !!
Something I forgot about. . . . Butterflies !! Wow !! Beautiful butterflies of many varieties flutter everywhere in the jungle . The holler monkeys are fun too !! Spider webs so big and thick, that they can catch birds !!
Foods to try. . . . Plantains, ceviche, empanadas, monkey-meat on a stick(it's great), iguana, wood-fired pizza from Napoli's(if it's still there, they have the best)
San Blas and Kuna Indians are gentle and interesting people . They marvel at the size/height of Americans.. . . . they're only about an average of 5 feet tall !!
Ft. San Lorenzo, on the Atlantic side is a wonderful old Spanish fort from about the 1600's or 1700's . It's located on an old U.S. Military post called Ft. Sherman . There's also one of the best beaches on that post . It's called Devil's Beach . It's surrounded by a coral reef, so no sharks to worry about . If the waves are up, then you'll have a blast 'body-surfing' !! Also the best place to snorkel .
One word of note about snorkeling. . . . . Be very careful if you decide to snorkel near Ft. San Lorenzo . It's located at the mouth of the Caribbean and the Chagres River, and it has been said that it's one of the most shark-infested waters in the world !! People do snorkel and scuba there, looking for old Spanish coins, but be careful !!
Email me if you like and I'll give you more tips !!
