Travel Info I would like to find work in panama next year, what U.S. companies are there? Travel Tips As for companies you have Dell, Shell, Chevron Texaco, Exxon Mobil (Esso Standard Oil), Citibank, Merck, GSK, Coca Cola, etc. However in order for you as a non resident to work in Panama you have to apply for a work permit, and that means that someone has to hire you, and then based on that you can apply for your work visa/work permit. There are 2 separate but parallel steps. One is done at immigration, and at the same time you're applying for your work permit at the Ministry of Labor. Once your visa is approved, then your work permit is issued by the Ministry of Labor. Also this work permit is conditioned to the fact that Panamanian Labor Law limits the foreign work force to a 10% of the work force. So that means that for every 10 Panamanians you can hire 1 foreign worker. The only exception to this rule is if you're hired as a technician/expert that is supposed to train the local work force on a technique not applied in Panama. Hope I didn't rain on your parade!
