The work that is going to be preformed on the canals third channel and third set of locks will be contracted to construction companies from other countries. Among these contracts companies will have until 29 June 2007 to present their proposals to the Panama Canal Authority for the first contract for dry excavation of the new locks. Earalier this year more than 600 people from 222 companies from 31 nations attended a conference in Panama to learn what types of contracts will be up for bids. From Houston, Texas to Brazil, Germany, Great Britian, China, everyone seems to want a peice of the plata (money). Maybe the best bet for working in the canal expansion would be to investigate who these companies are that win the bids and apply to them for positions you qualify for.
