Although reports say Christianity, having traveled there extensively and met lots of people, I think there is a growing trend in people under 30 who are atheists. I don't know if atheism is tracked by studies or if it is a religion or an anti-religion, but I do think it's important to note that the wave of the future in France is atheist.
As of 1994, 67% of the French population professed to be Catholic.

The number of Protestants in France is estimated to be between 700,000 (1.8% of the total population) and 1,700,000 (3%).

Adherence to Christianity has been trending steadily downwards for many years now and christenings have fallen from 95% to 58% and church weddings from 85% to 50%.

Despite the collective number of people claiming to be Christians (which are around 68-70%) only 61% of the population believes that God exists and only 57% accept the resurrection of Jesus Christ (both rather essential parts of being a Christian).

Among young people, most seem to be more and more indifferent to religion. Today, 46% say they believe in God, compared with 81% thirty years ago; and 40% of young people today say they have "no religion".

The Muslim community in France is now estimated to number between 4 and 5 million people (more by some estimates), which makes Islam France鈥檚 second biggest religion.

The Jewish community numbers around 800,000, a number that has dramatically increased since the end of World War II as Jews from the former French colonies in North Africa fled from persecution by Muslims.

Finally, there are now about 600,000 Buddhists in France, most of whom are immigrants from the former French colonies in Indochina. This makes Buddism the fourth largest relgion in France..
I live here and most people I know are atheist. I don't have any stats but I have yet to met a Parisian that believes in God.
