Do they use euros or francs in France now?

Travel Info
and whatever they use, how can u convert american money into french money?

Travel Tips
They use euros.

You can exchange dollars to euros at any exchange bureau. If you're exchanging in France you can either exchange cash or traveler's checks.

You can also take out money with your American card at French ATMs. However your bank with charge you an international conversion fee as well as a fee for not using your usual bank's ATM. You can also buy things with your American card, though I've found that a lot of stores don't accept MasterCard (and almost none accept American Express), so it would be easier if you had a Visa. Your bank's international fees still apply when you buy from a store

You can use the site www.xe.com to find out the conversion rates.France uses the Euro now and that would be US$1 is Euro 0.76 at the moment.

The daily exchange rate you can check on Yahoo Finances.
yes sinds 2002,france germany,the benelux
italy,spain, portugal,ireland,finland and austria.
The Euro is the official currency of France. It was introduced in non-physical form (travellers' cheques, electronic transfers, banking, etc.) at midnight on January 1st, 1999. Hower, it was not until January 1st, 2002 that the coins and notes were inroduced.

You can go to any bank or currency exchange office to change your dollars into euros. Also if you use your ATM card you can withdraw from your account and you will get the amount withdrawn in dollars in the local currency. Remember that you will always have to pay a fee.
