Hi, we are going to Paris by train from Lucerne and will be staying at HOTEL EVERGREEN LAUREL.?

Travel Info
The address is at 8 PLACE POMPIDOU, F-92300 LEVALLOIS PERRET. How we get to the hotel from the train station (Paris Est)? Can we take a cab? What is the cheapest and safest way to get to the hotel? Is the hotel located near the tourist spots? Thanks in advance.

Travel Tips
Take the Metro line 7 train marked "Direction : Mairie d'Ivry" to the Opera station and change to Metro Line 3 marked "Direction : Pont de Levallois-Becon" to the Pont de Levallois-Becon station.

This hotel is not in Paris but a suburb. It is a considerable distance to the traditonal tourist areas.

It caters primarily to businessmen and tour groups and, as such, is a perfectly good hotel in terms of its facilites.

Frankly, it would not be my choice because it is so far removed from the city center that it places considerable constraints on evening activites. (the Metro and regular bus service ends at around midnight leaving only a limited Night Bus service).

The distance also means that during the day it will be inconvenient to return to your hotel to take a break, change clothes, freshen up, etc.

Moreover, it is in an area that is relatively colorless and uninteresting thus depriving you of the sense of being a part of the life of Paris.

EDIT: The last trains on the metro run at about midnight so you should still have time to get to your hotel assuming you will arrive at Gare de L'Est at 10 PM.

EDIT 2: I just wrote a rather lengthy itinerary for some folks...it was for four days but the fourth day was a day trip to Versailles. The first three days are sightseeing in paris...check it out here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

aren't you lucky! Paris is a lovely city!
Take a cab but hang on tight, the cab drivers drive like madmen!

Enjoy!
As always, Rillifane gave you perfect directions to the hotel from the Gare de l'Est. However, I would like to add that the Paris metro system is totally safe at any time of day and that the last train on the line 3 (to Pont de Levallois) leaves the the first station at 12:44 a.m. so you will have plenty of time to get there on your first evening and to go out and about on subsequent evenings (on Saturday nights, the last train leaves at 1:45 a.m.).

You may want to consider taking a cab to the hotel the first night, which should cost about 20-25 euros as the metro is full of stairs and may be inconvenient if you have a lot of luggage (don't be surprised if the amount doesn't match the meter, there are additional charges for train station pick ups and for luggage).

If you do opt for the metro, when you get off at Pont de Levallois, exit at the Anatole France station and turn right on the Avenue Georges Pompidou, it is about half of a block to the place Pompidou and the hotel is to the right on the corner of the Av. Pompidou, you can't miss it.

I would like to add that while Levallois may be 'colorless and uninteresting', it is an extremely safe and nice neighborhood. The Evergreen Laurel is also a lovely, modern hotel (have never stayed there, but have toured it and have had events there) and it has two very nice restaurants and there are stores and other restaurants on the place Pompidou.

It is conveniently located to the metro station and the line 3 has a frequency of one train every 2-4 minutes between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. ... it will take you about 15-20 minutes to get to Op茅ra, which is in central Paris... honestly, you could do a lot worse!
I worked in Levallois for 8 years!
