Is it true the very top of the Eiffel Tower is shut?

Travel Info
If it is, then it's a shame. If yes, why?

Travel Tips
That depends on what you call the very top. At the top there is a quite large room with windows from wich you have a great view and some information about what you see. At the top of it, there is a kind of open platform. It is closed with netting. So you can see and feel the wind!. And then, there is another "layer". But it is for technical purpose.
So you can't go to the very very top of the tower, but the very top is of course open to public.
I hope I answered the question Source(s): That's what I remember...
Other Travel Tips
it is said that it was a favourite jumping off point for suicide action so the top as far as you can go is protected by a barrier
The one in Paris, or the one in Vegas?
Superman got up there. Mind you he was trying to rescue Lois Lane at the time.............
Quite often they shut the top of the tower, this is usually due to the weather and not wanting people to go up in bad winds etc.
The last time I went, we couldn't go to the top, it was extremely foggy, it was a shame but it apparently happens quite often.
I don't know if it is currently closed and it could be for maintenance - the other reason they close it.
i heard it was sh*t lol
