What is the Belleville area of Paris like? Specifically on Notre Rue street? |
Travel Info IS it in a good area? What is close by? Travel Tips Belleville is located at the northeastern end of Paris in the 19th and 20th arrondissements and parts of the 10th and 11th. . It is primarily a residential neighborhood and somewhat removed from the principle tourist attractions. Paris' second Chinatown is there along (the principle one is in the southeast) with a substantial Arab and African community. It would not be my first choice as a place for a tourist to stay. Others what is "notre rue"? it means "our street", but there is no street by this name. There is a street called "le n么tre", but it is located in the 16 arrdt (on the west side of Paris, opposite to Belleville). I like the Belleville area, which is not especially a tourist area, but has lots of artists places and international and ethnic restaurants. It is close of the Pere Lachaise cemetary (where famous people are buried) and the Buttes chaumont park, which is my favorite park in Paris. There are plenty of bus and metro lines to anywhere else in Paris. So, if you are not scared to meet arabic or african or asian people in the dark, I would recommand Belleville |
