Where can i take my daughter on an educational excursion? |
Travel Info Where can i take my daughter on an educational excursion? Travel Tips The museum for starters. It is great now they have upgraded and modernised it. It is free or you can give a donation if you wish. In July they are going to have an Egypt exhibit with mummies and other artefacts (which I'm hanging out for!). The art gallery is also a great excursion destination. There is always something new and the pieces aren't always on display, they get circulated between the stuff that they have out in storage so it is always changing. They also have an add on section, which has all of the Australian art in it which is in an old court house. Just down from the art gallery is PICA which is another place worth a look. It is more for displaying uni students and up and coming artists works. There is the Toy museum in Claremont. It is full of toys and dolls from the ages and they all have stories behind how they were acquired. It is a good insight into how the children of the past lived and played. Then there is AQWA out at Hillarys Boat Harbour. It used to be known as underwater world but changed it's name a few years ago. They have an underwater tunnel which is great to see marine life in a natural environment. They also have sea lions there too. They don't have the dolphins any more because they all died, which was so sad. Then there is the electricity museum in Fremantle. It is all about electricity and the history behind it and there are different activities for her to do and learn at the same time. A tour of the Fremantle gaol is also a good excursion. Learning about the history of it and seeing where the prisoners lived and stuff also helps to bring the past to life! You could also go to the Perth mint. Seeing how they make money and learning about the history of currency and stuff is quite interesting too. You could also take a day trip to somewhere like Toodyay. It is about an hours drive from Perth and the whole town is rich with history. The tourist centre has maps and things that you can follow to see the old buildings and stuff. My only tip is make it educational, but not so it becomes boring! Source(s): Lived in Perth all my life and have been on numerous "educational excursions" throught my school life. Other Travel Tips |
