How warm is Australia in Winter?

I'm going to Perth this summer with my friend to celebrate the end of our exams and it will be winter in Australia when we go. What is the average temperature at that time of year? What kind of clothes are suitable, can you still wear shorts and a tank? Thank you! Sorry, I'm so naive!

I have lived on the East coast all my life (Melb/Sydney etc) and now live in Perth! The Winters here are very very mild. All this week it is 21 deg....cool nights but glorious warm sunny days. It is the best place in Aussie to be in our so-called 'winters' !!

well probably the best weather in terms of average all year round would be Adelaide (not including Darwin or Brisbane).

Perth winters are very cold.
Australia such a big country.I've been to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth...and it is a beutiful places to be visit to.

If you plan to go during winter i advice you to bring some extra clothes especially thick ones.

Shorts and tanks???Duh...better not if you do not want to get fever.

But it is not as cold as Siberia. In Perth you just have to wear at least 3pieces of clothes plus winter coat.

It is much like being in Minnesota in January. Better be wearing those tanks and shorts as your undergarments!

Um.... We are in winter! lol. Scrap Perth.... Go to the Gold Coast in Queensland. All you need is shorts and shirts and a jumper. Gold Coast temperature only gets down to 14 degrees Celsius at night (around 60 degrees Fahrenheit). The Gold Coast is where Australians holiday. Remember legal drinking age is only 18 in Australia! Be sure to stay close to the beach (even know its winter, its where everything happens) and maybe in "Broadbeach" or "Surfers Paradise".
