Travel Info Apart from Perth what are tourist highlights on the west coast of Australia? Travel Tips The Bungle Bungles as already suggested are amazing, they for sure rival the Grand Canyon. It is a place that very few people have seen or even been to so it is very much unspoilt. Only problem is that it is very far away from Perth and hard to get to, you need to fly. Margaret River is really fantastic, there are many wineries there you must visit "The Berry farm" where they make all the wine from berrys (rasberries, strawberries etc). Monkey Mia (North) (again a long way but nothing like as far as the Bungles) is great with the dolphins swimming in to the shore every day you can watch the rangers feed them by hand. Albany (4 hours south) is kind boring in my book and the beaches are COLD. Esperance is amazing, you will see Kangaroos on the beach. The Pinacles are great, as is Wave Rock and of course if you are heading north you could also check out Kalbari, amazing Gorges there on the coast. A day or so east is Coolgardie and Kalgoorlie which are mining towns. You will either love these or hate them. If you want to see beaches head to Rottnest, there are some fairly nice beaches there and of course Cottesloe Beach (right next to Perth) is a popular beach. If you like golf, play at Arralluen (sp?) Country Club and The Vines Resort. Have a great time, I'm originally from Perth so if you need more info mail me. Others i've always wanted to go to the great barrier reef just north of australia.their are many different species of fish and coral reef. around Albani are meant to be some of the most beautiful beaches in OZ, the pinacle desert, Margaret River, in my place too :-)! Margaret River to the south for wine, Rottnest island (Quakkas), Wave Rock and the coastal areas north of Perth are fairly remote and well worth a visit (all the way up to Broome). The West Coast is quite long and it changes a lot on the way up. You can start south in the karri forests and work your way up from Albany, an old whaling town, through Margaret River which is pretty famous for it's Wine and Surf (though not recommended together) Keep heading north through Fremantle and the old convict buildings. (Our Jail is haunted too!) Geraldton has a museum with a lot about the Batavia. If you like horror stories, try a real life one! Keep going up to the pearling town of Broome. We have mining towns up north too which are completely different to what you find down south. The wildflower season (Oct/Nov) is meant to be amazing, and for those who group up in concrete jungles the amount of open space out there is meant to be amazing. hi, apart from what all the others have already recommended for you, I'd go and see monkey mia where you can see the dolphins coming to the shore, the blowholes in the north of carnavon, then you can go diving on the ningaloo reef which is pretty huge (comes 2nd after great barrier reef), and a bit more inlands, you can go to Kalbarri National Park and see "Nature's window" , which I find is a must-see in WA and Karijini National Park. Last but not least, you can see Mount Augustus which is even taller than Ayers Rock but unfortunatly isn't as popular. I hope I could help you get some ideas and I wish you a nice holiday! The dolphins at Monkey Mia, cruising Shark Bay and checking out the Shark Bay World Heritage Area, Margaret River is beautiful - great surf!, Windjana Gorge, Geikie Gorge, the gorges of the Pilbarra in Karijini National Park, Broome and Eighty-Mile Beach.... the list goes on. |
