Travel Info Do Toilets Flush Bacwards When you cross over the International Date line And the Equator at the same time? Travel Tips As far as i know...only crossing the equator has an effect on the way the water swirls when you flush a toilet (northern hemisphere Vs southern hemisphere thing) ... I don't think the IDL has any effect on it. Others You could try but I doubt you would actually witness the phenomenon. Ew. I don't think I'd want to see a toilet flushing backwards! If you mean the water swirling the other way, yes, they do. Just remember that not all toilets are the same. For example, in Australia, the water level in our toilets is much lower than in American toilets and the water doesn't swirl so much as just getting whisked away. Well water going down a sink goes straight down the plug hole on the equator rather than swirling. Dont know about flush toilets as didnt see many of them in Sumatera where I tested it. |
