When is the best time to visit Western Australia? |
Travel Info When is the best time to visit Western Australia? Travel Tips Western Australia is a huge area with lots of geographical and climatic diversity. It depends on where you're going. In Perth, and on the west and south-west coasts summer is BY FAR the best time to visit, because precipitation is dictated strongly by seasons - from Albany along the coast all the way up to Carnarvon (near Shark Bay), winter is very wet and summer is dry. In Perth, the winter rain along with relatively cool temperatures makes it hard to go out at all without getting wet. Summer in Perth, however, can be pretty hot (at least according to temperature graphs), but very sunny and Western Australia has good beaches. In the outback and the northern corner (places such as the Kimberleys, or Karijini National Park), I think you should go in the winter "dry season," or in spring/autumn to the Nullarbor, as it may get a little chilly there during winter nights ("Nullarbor" comes from latin "no trees," and has no "wet" seson at all). Broome has great beaches with warm water, and is OK in all seasons.
