I'm getting ready to move to Australia?

and I already have a target date for the middle of September with a return trip for the middle of March. I already have a passport now I just need to get the round trip tickets and I need to find out how to obtain a work visa. I鈥檝e never done this before so I鈥檓 not certain about how this sort of thing works. Would I be better off using an agency to help me get a work visa or can I do this here in the states? I鈥檝e tried to look up the costs for a round trip but the sites I鈥檝e visited won鈥檛 go any further than 6 months from the present date. Are there sites that can help me to get around this or would I be better off using a travel agency for this. Also does anyone know what it costs to quarantine a cat and possibly what it costs to ship a car overseas? My point of departure will be from the Midwest and I鈥檒l be heading for Perth for a job during their summer. If all goes well I may be asking you about what it takes to acquire citizenship, but I figure one hurdle at a time.

As I am Australian, Im not sure about the immigration/Visa laws for Americans. The best thing would be to contact the australian consulate to enquire about visa requirements and also further information about immigration details are requirements too. You will need to contact a travel agent regarding an open ticket... generally an open ticket only is valid for a maximum of 12 months.. so it might be easier for you to buy a one way there, one way back. But then again, its good to have the return in the case you want to head home during your stay in oz. You may want to contact a pet export agency, they will look after all the red tape for sending an agency, I think it is quite $$. And make sure you travel the east coast, it will rock you socks from the top of qld to the bottom on Victoria! Plenty of rural summer work available too. Anyway hope this helps.
