Fares are sold in buckets and there is never a guarantee the deep discount buckets are going to be available at any time, no matter how far in advance. Use a site like farecompare.com to determine what the lowest fares are historically for the carriers you are considering, and book when you can get those fares or close to them. This may be far in advance, it may not be. You'll often find that you can get the deep discount fares at months, weeks and even days before a flight. This depends entirely on the yield management system being employed by any given airline at any one time. Using the historical graphs on farecompare you can get a pretty good idea of what fares look like between most destinations at most times of the year. Good luck and have a good trip! You usually get the best deals if you book a few weeks in advance.(at least 2 weeks) If you use travelocity........you can put where you want to go in and they'll notify you by email when they have good sales. If you have a month or more that's always good to help save a few bucks yes defenately, i am a travel agent and its much better to do things in advance you get more discount and a better deal!! If you are a single person travelling alone you can great last minute deals , since you are only needing one ticket, buying online if you can is usually cheaper, I think it depends when you are travelling , if you have a place in mind it pays to find out if there are school holidays around that time, more people travel during school holidays and prices are generally higher then. I was looking for tickets to Perth about 8 weeks ago but didn't book them at the time they were from 拢730 upwards now they go from 拢800 upwards so book soon if you want to save money . I finally booked them from the flight centre at Greenwich and only paid 拢715 all taxes included for October |
