Travel Info Could any W.A. resident help, please ? Trying to sort out which of these towns has a variety of _vacation_ apts.: a) Bunbury, b) Pinjarra, c) Augusta, d) Albany. We're a retired European couple wishing to spend a few weeks in Jan / Feb to experience something not "too touristy"...living among local residents... We will take alternative destination ideas, if any are offered. P.S.: we transited briefly through Perth / Northbridge two years ago and were very impressed. Thank you in advance !. P.S: Entertainment facilities and shops / food markets, too ? Travel Tips Bunbury is a city, not too bad but not really touristy. Pinjarra is quite small, the nearby towns of Mandurah (coastal and also on the Peel Inlet, good services) and Dwellingup (in the hills, pretty forestry area) are better. Augusta is nice, coastal area, good drives to surrounding areas. Albany: interesting coastal town, good services, nice harbour, good drives to Denmark, the Porongorup hills, Bluff Knoll etc.... Other suggestions: Dunsborough: easy to find accommodation, a good start to the South West. Esperance: a bit further out, but beautiful and well serviced, so may suit you if you want to be away from the crowds. Unfortunately, January is school holidays so anywhere nice will have a lot of people. It is also hot in a lot of inland places then. If you can delay your holiday till February/March , you will have better choices in accommodation and places wont be as busy. Others all these places are good to see and are fairly close to each other so spend a few days at each. Bunbury is more like a city than a town. II know friends, who have been over that way and your two best areas would be Albany and Bunbury. They are larger centres than the other two towns as far as I know. |
