I'm just looking for all the information I can find, personal opinions, feedback, about students and life studying at the University of Western Australia in Perth?

I am thinking about studying abroad there from the U.S. for a semester, what's it like?

As a student at UWA I'd have to say it's pretty good. Nice location on the river and a tavern that gets well used. The lecturers are mostly approachable. There are the occasional few who get totally hard-assed on the students - usually with a good reason though.

It's a very multicultural campus with an academic club, sports club or social group for just about anything or anyone. Be aware there is also an anti-war sentiment running through a few students who are opposed to the Iraq war and the actions of USA, UK and Aus. If you're a George Bush fan you may find yourself on the outer.

The campus itself is nice and clean, and the security is good. I've found it very easy to make friends and get a decent social circle happening. Education standards are very high, but so are the quality of most of the staff. They expect the best from their students and will be freely available to help them reach their best. If you get into trouble, they're flexible enough to help so that you can finish your course.

UWA has been good to me. A few minor things as in all education institutions, but for the most part everyone has been very good. They take feedback from the students at the end of each semester and actually use it to make the courses better.

It will probably come down to your attitude to study. You do well and the lecturers will love you. You do poorly and they'll try to help you, but if you don't help yourself, then they'll quickly cut you loose. Hard but true.
