What is the best way to experience machu pichu in 4 days?

Travel Tips
I'd recommend taking a day in Cuzco to adjust to the altitude. I'm in good shape, but I was definitely dragging in Cuzco the first two days. Several tour companies offer a deal with one day in Cuzco, and then one day in Aguas Calientes, which is a pretty town and gives you some more time to get adjusted to the altitude.

Then maybe take the 2 day hike up to Macchu Pichu, if you're in good shape. You should be warned though - the altitude is really hard to get used to. I kept having to sit down to catch my breath when I was at the top, and all I was doing was walking around slowly!

I'd recommend taking the train on the way down - you'll see some beautiful views, and you'll probably be pretty tired by that point. Source(s): I lived in Peru for two years.

Other Travel Tips
4 days? If you had one week I'd recommend you to take the Inka's Trail from Cusco. I think there's a shorter version, though. But I'm not sure if 4 days is enough...
