What type of training do I need for Inca trail? |
Travel Info What type of training do I need for Inca trail? Travel Tips The Inca Trail is amazing and it will be a highlight if you travel in Peru. Spend at least 3 days in Cuzco before doing the trail. It is very important that your body is acclimatized to the high altitude. Don't forget that the trail takes you a lot higher than Cuzco (I did the Inca Trail many years ago by myself - so I carried all my gear). Just make sure that you're fit for the task and you'll have the adventure of a lifetime. Enjoy, Mark Source(s): http://www.travel-amazing-southamerica.c... Other Travel Tips Machuppichu is not as high as Cusco, but still try to get some pills for the high sickness if you come; walk a lot ( that's a dumb advice ) ; and do your reservation now if you are planning to go in June ..there are too much people that goes and the number of people who can do it is limited , so I think you should find an agency that may help you with that. I did Inca's trail.. a lot of cursing is involved in the 3rd and 4th day , be prepared :). Good luck I'm in full agreement with the other two posts. Inca Trail is awesome and tiring, especially on the 3rd day. As far as training goes, I would get in as best aerobic condition as you can by running or swimming. Then follow the above advice of staying a few days in Cuzco before the trek. Altitude sickness pills are all right, but nothing beats well-brewed Mate de Coca. It is based on coca leaves, but has nothing to do with cocaine. Gives you a boost of energy much like coffee and it helps with soroche or the altitude sickness. You can buy it everywhere. Have a lot of fun! Just go jogging every other day two weeks before, try to work on your breathing, and if you acces to a gym work on your legs. Get a good strecth before and after each workout. By the time you get to Machu Picchu you will have to face a great challange, Waynu Picchu, do it , it worth it. |
