Has anyone been to machu picchu? |
Travel Info Has anyone been to machu picchu? Travel Tips Yeah! It's fantastic!!! The best way to go there is trekking the Inca's Trail. You need to be in good physical shape because it's like 3 days (you could also do a longer trip, depending where you start the walk) and it's also very high altitude over there. Be sure to rest the first day you're in Cusco (the city from where all the tours to Machu Picchu depart), and take lots of coca tea (yeah, it sounds weird, but it's actually really good for getting accustomed to the altitude). You can also get there by train, but the inca's trail is more exciting, specially when you arrive to Machu Picchu on the third day with the sunrise and you see that impressive hidden citadel appearing in front of your eyes! OMG, it's amazing!Yes, last year on my way to Patagonia I had been there following the Inca Trail. I believe is the nicest way to arrive there, a bit physically demanding since some of the higher points in the path are around 4000 meters over the sea level, what means being easily tired with minimal efforts unless you had been living in high areas for more than 3 months. If you rather take the easier way, then take the train from Cuzco. Personally I will never regret having done the Inca Trail - in company of a local guide, since the trail is not always existing- The first difference between going with the train and trekking is that during the 3 or 4 days that it takes to arrive you will find breathtaking views from ancient buildings where the Incas had developed aqueducts and build those places with stones without being glued with anything but so perfectly assembled that you would be surprised. Many parts of the Inca Trail are misty, and once in a sudden you'll see literally popping out a wonderful building cover with vegetation that you will ever forget. If you would like to get some more info about Machu Pichu, just send me a message and we can get in touch one of these days by e-mail. Believe me, it is a wonderful experience to remember a lifetime. |
