I'm going to Peru in October, what airline would be the cheapest and suggestions for fun? |
Travel Info I am visiting Machu Picchu, Lake Titicaca, and the Amazon so I need suggestions on what to do for fun and any other suggestions you may have. I have a been in contact with www.peruforless.com but would like others to make suggestions. Travel Tips If you're coming from the states, LAN.com offers the cheapest and most convenient flight, usually. They have overnight flights that land in Lima in the morning, and allow you to connect to a Cusco bound plane three hours later. This way you can avoid having to pay a hotel in Lima, the cab ride 45 minutes to Miraflores, where most of the hotels are and a day lost: flights to Cusco are ONLY IN THE MORNING. So even if it's beaten by $50 by TACA.com or AA.com, you save the hotel, the cab ride, extra meals, and a day. Again, the Lan flights come in early, usually between 6-7 am, and allows for three hour windows, so you can go through immigration control, baggage claim, customs, re-check-in, security, etc. Of course, you could stay in Lima if you like. It's got some swank places to visit... Others Visit Huaraz too! unfortunately I think Extreme Sports Fest is just this month! then you can go even snowboarding, but I'm not sure if you can do that in October. If you want fun you could also go to Paracas in the coast, people may even swim with friendly sea wolves unless you were afraid of them. If you have any problem ask any children, they are usually more creative and useful than adults, they tend to find places more easily! Visit Larcomar in Lima, there are good discos and you can eat good food. Manos Morenas is a good restaurant. I recommend aji de gallina and ceviche. You cannot leave peru without having eaten ceviche. My friend from Cambridge liked it a lot. Peru itself up to you if u want luxury yet cheap or u prefer the cheap n living of the lands if you want fun try climbing the mountain then snow boarding down the other end ok Professor Campos is dead right about the LAN flights from the States, but it does pre-suppose that you want to head straight to Cusco! A lot of US tourists do this because of the shorter holidays you get over there but if you can take some more time then travelling by coach from Lima through the south (Nazca, Ica) and then gradually up into the mountains via Arequipa, Colca Canyon and Lake Titicaca is arguably a better way to do things... When it comes to the Amazon, you could visit the Manu Biosphere Reserve or the Tambopata Reserve direct from Cusco, which would save you time and money; otherwise, you need to fly to Iquitos in the north - you can only do this from Lima. Hope this helps! http://www.therealperu.co.uk |
